Group Records-Meredith d.
group-records@oregonal-anon.org
It is super important to keep your group records up-to-date so people who need Al-Anon can find us. When your group has a change in location, date, time, current mailing address, or group representative please contact your district representative who will forward the information onto me. Then the WSO and Oregon Area websites will be updated.

Hi, I’m Maureen C., your Oregon area Public Information Coordinator. As stated in the Oregon Area Handbook, “the primary purpose of the Public Information (PI) Coordinator is to keep in touch with the Area Delegate and all Al-Anon members doing Public Information (PI) work in the area, and to act as a PI liaison among local groups and between local groups and the World Service Office. The PI Coordinator follows through on projects initiated by the PI Committee at the World Service Office.” Please let me know how I can be of service to you, your group or your district in getting Al-Anon information to the public.
Public Outreach is about increasing the public’s awareness that through Al-Anon, Help and Hope is available to the families and friends of alcoholics.
Step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry the message to others, and practice these principles in all our affairs.
Tradition 11: Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need guard with special care the anonymity of all A.A. members.
Promotion: to push forward; to further advance, as in a business venture (implies hard sell) (Service Manual pg. 117)
Attraction: to draw by other than physical influence, to invite, to draw to; to cause to approach. (Service Manual pg. 117). For more information see S-40 Attracting and Cooperating.
Currently, the Oregon Area is providing “Are you Troubled by Someone’s Drinking” leaflet at 11 Oregon Rest Stops that have Travel Information Centers. Also, Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism (AFA), our public outreach magazine, is being distributed to potential members and professions throughout the state.
Forum-annie M.
The Forum is a monthly magazine published by WSO from writings from members such as you and me. To keep this “Meeting in Our Pocket” coming we must continue to submit writings.
As the Forum Coordinator I am available for writing workshops.
